Goizaldi Dantza Taldea

Goizaldi Euskal Dantzari Taldea was founded in Donostia / San Sebastián on February 2, 1948. The creator and teacher of the first years, Cándido Pujana, had the objective of teaching the traditional Basque dances of the Goierri area (Gipuzkoa). Pujana learned those dances from his father José Lorenzo Pujana. He received them from José Antonio Olano, and Olano from the great master Juan Ignacio Iztueta.

Thus, throughout these 75 years that they are now celebrating, Goizaldi has been the benchmark for Gipuzkoan dances. One of its objectives has been and is, to maintain the tradition knowing how to adapt to the changes produced in society, and since 2016, both women and men have the privilege of learning and making these dances known. Goizaldi participants and partners are celebrating this anniversary with an extensive program to show the importance and presence of traditional dances both in Donostia/San Sebastián and throughout the Basque Country. One more year, they will be present at our Big Week with one of their performances in the Plaza de la Constitución.
