Gero Axular Dantza Taldea

It feels like only yesterday but, aiming to ensure the continuity of Euskal dantza dance classes, a group of parents of students at the Axular Lizeoa school founded the Gero Axular Kultur Taldea way back 20 years ago.

To celebrate the occasion and for this Big Week, GERO AXULAR has designed a special traditional Basque dance repertoire. The celebrations of the group’s 20th anniversary invites onlookers to share the costumes, music and dances that identify us most in a performance thanks to which we can share this emotional occasion with the audience in the Plaza de la Constitución. The repertoire will essentially consist of a selection of dances from Navarra, Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia and Zuberoa chosen for their popularity at international folklore festivals. However, for the Big Week, our art director, Juan Luis Unzurrunzaga, will also stage some of his own choreographies, designed to convey the artistic sensitivity of traditional dance combined with more contemporary proposals.
